PAX East will always hold a special place in my heart. Not only was it the first convention I ever attended, but that weekend helped launch us on the path of pursuing our passions with Pass The Controller so many, many years ago. A gathering of folks from all over the globe right in our backyard to come together to celebrate a community we all so happily belong to. It’s always the people that make PAX and this space the reason for being here, and 2025’s show was no different– and much needed in such a tumultuous time both in and outside of the industry.
As the landscape of the video game industry continues to shift dramatically in all aspects, the constant remains that PAX East will always have a bevy of delicious indie games to devour if you’re keen on perusing the menu. The lineup in Boston for 2025 didn’t disappoint with tons of familiar faces, like previous Best of PAX East recipient Fretless, and a cavalcade of new indie gems to gawk at as we moseyed around the show floor. These next five games were the ones that we decided collectively were our favorites from this year’s show.
