Sega Is Taking Advantage Of The Switch’s Lack Of Virtual Console

This week  Sega dropped a bunch of news at a fan event they held in Japan. One of the announcements made during that event was the revival of Sega Ages and that it would be coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year. In the initial announcement, Sega unveiled that it would include Sonic The Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, and Thunder Force. Since then, they’ve also announced that Alex Kidd and Gain Ground would be joining the list of downloadable games.

The development studio M2 will be handling the re-releases of these classic titles which means not just ports but games having additional features built in. M2 has handled this type of work in the past with Virtual Console titles and previous Sega Ages installments.

Though we are unclear on price and release date outside of a 2018 stamp, Sega has said that in addition to the five titles already announced that we can expect over 15 titles to release under the Sega Ages brand this year on Switch.
