San Diego Comic-Con is host to many reveals in all aspects of nerd and pop culture, and the recent tease of Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling is something that has tickled my childhood in all the right places. These days it seems as though every company is rebooting franchises, remaking classics, and crafting whatever they can to feed off of our nostalgia. Do I hate it? Sometimes it can be a pretty obvious money grab, but some of the reboots and series revivals over the past decade have been rather enjoyable. As long as some people are still creating fresh and new IPs and experiences, I’ll never be upset with quality reboots.
Moving on to the trailer revealed this Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, we got our chance to see our favorite wallaby adjusting to the 21st century. Many notable characters make appearances in what appears to be Rocko and company adjusting to a tech-obsessed, coffee and energy drink guzzling society.
With the original cast reprising their roles as the anthropomorphic animals as well as years of time to create this hour-long Nickelodeon special, we are expecting this resurrected Nick Toon to wow us. It’s basically just making fun of current day me, so I can’t wait. Look for this reboot of Rocko’s Modern Life to land sometime in 2018 on Nickelodeon.
