CYBRLICH and the Death Cult of Labor
CYBRLICH and the Death Cult of Labor was impossible to miss on the show floor– or at least is was for me. On my first loop around PAX East 2025 my gaze was immediately taken by the monochrome hand-drawn badassery on full display on the corner of PAX Rising. Inspired by games like Doom, CYBRLICH‘s fast-paced kicking, shooting, and sword swinging are governed by a unique consumable mechanic where you switch between chomping on burgers for physical health and puffing on blunts for mental health. Both of which allow you to survive longer and shoot more in either the horde mode or single player campaign. Within the story chunk we played, we were blasting our way sword first through waves of skeletons deep inside a corporation as we prepared to push back against capitalism. The current state of the world made the decimation of the workplace even more satisfying for sure, but with fluid and frantic gameplay and style CYBRLICH showed it had the sauce regardless of the real world weight all around us.
With an over abundance of animation constantly filling the screen during heart-pumping action, CYBRLICH embodies a perfect balance of over-the-top style that never teeters into cringe and remains comfortably in the essence of what the story of CYBRLICH is all about. Tonally, visually, and thematically the vibe I’m sticking with throughout the next four years and beyond.
It felt good seeing the screens showcasing this boomer shooter being swallowed up by an ever-growing crowd of folks clamoring to kick vending machines and crush skeletons. This one remains high on my list of priorities whenever it releases in full and something we recommend you wishlist now on Steam.
