When Alyssa Mercante reached out to me to see if I would be willing to make a drink for her upcoming charity stream-a-thon to benefit Trans Lifeline I was honored and of course jumped at the chance to contribute to her efforts in my own, small way. So while you are tuning in to a variety of guests, games, and good times on August 3rd, 2024 I figured I would make something that is easy to craft and easier to crush for a Saturday full of love for the Trans community. So please donate and share Alyssa’s posts to show solidarity, push back against the hateful people targeting folks, and enjoy a delicious and light cocktail this weekend.
To make a Trans Lifeline Spritz you’ll need:
- 1oz Aperol
- 1oz Grapefruit Juice
- 1/4 Fresh Lemon Wedge, Squeezed
- 3oz Prosecco
- Splash Soda Water
- Float of Blue Curaçao
You’re going to build this drink in your glass. Fill your wine glass with ice. Add the Aperol and grapefruit juice. Next, squeeze your lemon wedge into the glass. Pour your 3oz of Prosecco (or any sparkling wine). Toss a splash of soda water and then carefully pour a float of Blue Curaçao over your drink to give a slight layer of pink and blue. Sip and enjoy responsibly.
For an alcohol free version of this drink, follow these steps:
- .5oz Lemon, fresh squeezed
- 1/2oz Simple Syrup
- 4oz Grapefruit Juice
- 2oz Soda Water
- (Optional, splash of blue food coloring to create the layered colors)
